Using the service

Can I use SecureTranscript directly from my smartphone?

Yes, you can use SecureTranscript directly from your smartphone. Log in to your account and import a pre-recorded audio file.

If the audio excerpt was recorded using the Voice Memos app (on iPhone), first export your audio excerpt to be transcribed from the Voice Memos app using the "Save to Files" function. Then in the SecureTranscript application, select "Import file" and navigate to the location where the recording was exported.

What are timecodes (timestamps) used for?

Timecodes indicate the exact moment when each part of the text is spoken in the recording. They are useful for easily navigating between the text and the original audio.

This feature is particularly appreciated by researchers, journalists, and professionals who need to verify precise quotes or quickly find specific passages in their recordings.

How can I improve the quality of my transcriptions?

To get the best transcription results, here are some tips:

  • Use a good quality microphone when recording.
  • Avoid excessive background noise.
  • Speak clearly and at a steady pace.
  • For specific terms or proper names, we're working on adding a custom vocabulary feature (coming soon).

Pricing and payment

How does pricing work?

Our pricing is based on the duration of your files and offers three plans:

  • Pay-as-you-go — Standard rate of €8/h, billed by the minute (rounded up to the next minute).
  • Prepaid packs — Buy credit at a discounted rate (e.g. 10-hour pack at €60, that's −25 %). No expiration.
  • Subscriptions — Monthly hour quota at an even better per-hour rate, from €20/month for 5 hours. −20 % with annual commitment.
What is the difference between a prepaid pack and a subscription?

A prepaid pack is a one-off purchase: you pay once and use your hours with no time limit (credits never expire).

A subscription gives you an hour quota to consume each month, at a lower per-hour rate. Hours unused within a month are not rolled over, but the effective per-minute rate is more attractive.

Both can coexist: subscription hours are consumed first, then the system automatically switches to your prepaid credit.

Do you offer packages or volume-based pricing?

Yes, several options based on your usage profile:

  • 10-hour pack: €60 instead of €100 (−25 % on the standard rate). No expiration.
  • Starter subscription: €20/month for 5 hours (€4/h effective).
  • Essential subscription: €35/month for 10 hours (€3.50/h effective).
  • Pro subscription: €65/month for 20 hours (€3.25/h effective).
  • Annual commitment: −20 % on all subscriptions.

For businesses with larger needs, we offer customized rates. Contact us to get an offer tailored to your needs.

How can I purchase a credit pack or subscribe to a plan?

Log in to your SecureTranscript account and go to the "Buy Credit" section for prepaid packs, or "My Subscription" to subscribe to a monthly or annual plan. Credit is added to your account immediately and ready to use for your transcriptions.

Does credit purchased in packages have an expiration date?

No, credit purchased through our prepaid packs never expires. You can use it whenever you want, without time constraints.

Note: subscription hours, on the other hand, expire at the end of each monthly period and are not rolled over to the next month.

What happens if I exceed my monthly subscription quota?

There is no automatic upgrade. Once your monthly quota is depleted, you must manually purchase a prepaid pack (no expiration) to continue transcribing. You can also simply wait for the next month to get your subscription quota back.

Security and privacy

Is my data subject to the US Cloud Act?

No. SecureTranscript is operated by a European entity and uses exclusively servers located on the European continent. Your data is outside the jurisdiction of the US Cloud Act and other extra-European data requisition laws.

Unlike providers backed by AWS, Google Cloud or Azure — which remain subject to the Cloud Act even when data is physically stored in Europe — our infrastructure does not rely on any American or Asian cloud actor.

How is SecureTranscript different from Otter.ai, Rev or Sonix?

Otter.ai, Rev and Sonix are American services that process your data via infrastructures subject to the US Cloud Act (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.). Your recordings and transcriptions can therefore be requisitioned by US authorities, and several of these services use your content to train their AI models.

SecureTranscript is a sovereign European alternative: 100% European processing, local open-source AI (Mistral) with no calls to OpenAI/ChatGPT, automatic deletion of source files after transcription, MFA as standard, and zero reuse of your data for training.

Is SecureTranscript GDPR compliant for lawyers, doctors and therapists?

Yes. SecureTranscript is fully GDPR compliant and suited to the strict requirements of professionals bound by professional secrecy: lawyers, doctors, psychologists, therapists, notaries, journalists, healthcare researchers.

Our guarantees — European hosting, independence from the US Cloud Act, automatic deletion of source files, MFA, end-to-end encryption, zero AI reuse — allow you to transcribe consultations, clinical interviews or hearings without risk of breaching professional secrecy or GDPR.

Where is my data hosted and how is it secured?

All your data is hosted and processed exclusively on servers located on the European continent, operated by a European hosting provider. No transit or storage in the United States, Asia or any other extra-European jurisdiction.

Security is provided by end-to-end encryption of all transfers, multi-factor authentication (MFA) for account access, and automatic deletion of source files as soon as processing is complete.

Are my audio files automatically deleted after transcription?

Yes. As soon as transcription is complete, source audio and video files are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers. We keep no backups or archive copies.

Only the text transcription remains accessible in your account, and you can also delete it at any time.

How does multi-factor authentication (MFA) work?

Multi-factor authentication adds a security layer beyond the simple password. SecureTranscript supports three methods to choose from:

  • Mobile authentication app (OTP / one-time password) — Google Authenticator, Authy, etc.
  • Physical FIDO U2F security key — compatible with YubiKey, Nitrokey, Token2.
  • Biometric recognition (fingerprint, face recognition) if your hardware supports it.

We strongly recommend enabling MFA, especially for professionals handling sensitive data.

Is SecureTranscript GDPR compliant?

Yes, SecureTranscript is fully compliant with the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our servers are located on the European continent, our operating company is incorporated under European law, and our practices for processing, retaining and deleting data follow the strictest GDPR standards.

Do you use my data to train your AI models?

No, we never use your data to train our AI models. Your files and transcriptions are strictly confidential and are used only to provide you with the requested service.
